Guidelines for Editors

Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief holds ultimate responsibility for the journal’s content and quality. Their role encompasses:

  • Strategic Oversight: Guiding the journal’s vision and ensuring alignment with its mission.
  • Editorial Decision-Making: Making final decisions on manuscript acceptance based on reviewer feedback and editorial standards.
  • Ethical Standards Enforcement: Upholding publication ethics and addressing any conflicts of interest or misconduct.
  • Editorial Board Leadership: Engaging with editors and reviewers to maintain a high-performing editorial team.

This role aligns with the standards outlined by the ASHA Journals Academy, emphasizing the Editor-in-Chief’s pivotal position in maintaining the journal’s integrity and scholarly excellence.

Editorial Review Process

Each submission undergoes an initial screening by the AMSA Research Editorial Board. The peer review process is double-blind, involving faculty, residents, clinicians, early-career researchers, and medical students with demonstrated research expertise. The editorial board emphasizes academic rigor, developmental feedback, and clarity in communication.

After the initial review, the submitting author will be contacted for revisions. Once revisions are received, a secondary review is conducted by the editorial board to ensure that feedback and concerns have been adequately addressed.
